Apart from the basic architect induction programme (white card) required to work on any construction tickets in Sydney, some other requirements cannot be overlooked. Below is a list of the various permits and building passes in Sydney that a labourer or even another tradesperson working in the construction sector may require.

ENTRY TICKET FOR LIMITED AREA

A restricted area access card is required for people working in covered or enclosed restricted areas. This is a place not intended for human access and poses a risk to human health and welfare. Drainage systems, tunnels, trenches, tanks and storage tanks are works for which this permit may be required.

TICKET FOR WORKING AT WORKS AT HEIGHT

The Work at Height Permit is often used for contractors or tradespeople who need to work at great heights as part of their job. Working at height has some specific hazards and scenarios that need to be considered. The hazards include accidental tools and materials and falls from great heights. Working on various workstations and ladders are examples of activities requiring these tickets.

TICKET FOR ELEVATED WORK PLATFORMS

The Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) permit is one of the construction tickets in sydney that is divided into two categories: under 11 metres and over 11 metres.

You are allowed to operate a scissor lift, an elevated work platform and a large cherry picker within 11 metres if you have completed the EWP below the 11-metre limit. Unless you need to operate a boom lift that is longer than 11 metres, in which case you must have completed additional instruction that entitles you to do just that.

TICKET FOR ASBESTOS REMOVAL

Asbestos removal quotes are categorised as Non-Friable Asbestos Removal, Asbestos Awareness, and Asbestos Removal Supervision. If you work with or near asbestos, you must have completed one of these programmes. The asbestos safety programme trains you to recognise if the substances you are dealing with contain asbestos.

BLUE AND YELLOW TRAFFIC CONTROL CARDS

Signalised intersection maps are divided into two types: those that allow you to direct traffic (Blue Map) and those that allow you to formulate and develop a traffic strategy (Red Map). If you want to work as a traffic controller, you need at least a blue card, which enables you to regulate network congestion around places. A yellow card enables you to organise traffic flow around a facility and ensure that safety regulations are followed. Both cards are often required to work as a dispatcher.

A driver’s licence is also usually required, as many traffic simulations have to be carried out from place to place at different locations.

TICKET TO RISI

This Train Industry Safety Induction Pass educates learners about primary hazards in actual rail operations. It educates about railway safety and safety procedures. It also ensures that railway staff are aware of safety requirements, risks and legal obligations. The RISI ticket is required for all professionals involved with the Sydney rail system.

HIGH-RISK Creation PERMITS

If you are a labourer or tradesperson operating on a construction place or carrying out an activity considered higher risk, you must hold a High-Risk Work Licence.

This is a collection of permits that allow workers to carry out high-risk work. Crane permits, climbing and rigging permits, forklift licences, hoist licences, compression equipment licences, extended forklift licences, and permits are all for high-risk activities.
